As a major manufacturer and distributor of medical devices, C.R. Bard needed its distribution operations to function at the peak of health.

The Challenge:

C.R. Bard's seven different divisions needed a supply chain solution to consolidate their distribution operations into one to handle volume that was increasing by 10-12% per year, improve customer service levels, and tackle labor costs that were too high. Integration with a new ERP system was also a requirement, as well as strict compliance with FDA regulations.

 

The Solution:

After evaluating both current and future needs, FORTE's supply chain consultants developed a master plan, and designed and implemented a new, 400,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Covington, Georgia. After a thorough warehouse management system (WMS) needs analysis, vendor evaluation and selection, we integrated the WMS with the new material handling system utilizing FORTE's Automation Director™ warehouse control system (WCS) software.
