Delta Faucet
As the largest manufacturer of residential and commercial faucets in the world, Delta® Faucet Company needed a distribution operations partner that was positively flowing with ideas.
The Challenge:
A division of Masco Corporation, Delta Faucet needed to design
an automated warehouse capable of supporting its forecasted growth
while allowing for future expandability and improved customer
service levels. Consolidating a three-facility network into one
location needed to lower transportation costs and inventory levels
across the supply chain, and result in a strategic geographic
advantage for shortened delivery time to major markets.
The Solution:
FORTE's DC consulting team designed and implemented a new
255,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Jackson, Tennessee. After a
warehouse management system (WMS) needs analysis, vendor evaluation
and selection, the material handling system was integrated with the
WMS utilizing FORTE's Automation Director™ warehouse control system
(WCS) software. Automation Director conveyor control software
allows split case picks for retail, wholesale and
direct-to-consumer warranty orders and automatically routes through
six pick zones.

Now capable of transit to 75% of all
major markets within 24 hours, the new operation has increased the
speed of delivery while lowering transportation costs and inventory
levels. Customers are able to receive an entire order quickly and
in one shipment, including products from other Masco divisions, for
a heightened level of customer service. Picking and shipping
accuracy exceeds 99%.
