Ormco Partners with FORTE to Design New Distribution System

July 19, 2005 – Ormco Corporation, a division of Sybron Dental Specialties, Inc. (NYSE: SYD), has appointed FORTE to evaluate, plan and design a new distribution system within its current San Dimas, Calif. distribution center. The project is set to be commissioned in October 2005.

FORTE is designing and retrofitting the existing distribution center, incorporating a scalable material handling system and an optimized level of automation. The new system will satisfy Ormco’s unique distribution requirements and objectives through 2009 and beyond. The solution will also accommodate Ormco’s Health Industry Bar Code (HIBC) compliance initiative and FDA regulations.

FORTE recommendations will improve Ormco’s existing systems functionality and eliminate non-value added processes. The design goals are to increase inventory and order accuracy, significantly increase order fulfillment productivity and reduce operational costs. Reconfiguration of existing Oracle functionality and incorporation of Oracle’s Warehouse Management application is a key part of this initiative. The retrofit will positively impact customer service and provide a timely return on investment.
