Delta Faucet Company Teams Up With FORTE

December 2, 2003 - FORTE has completed the implementation phase of a new Central Distribution Center (CDC) for the Delta Faucet Company. The comprehensive plan, design, and build project called for a 255,000 sq. foot facility located in Jackson, Tennessee.

Delta, the largest manufacturer of residential and commercial faucets in the world, says it will elevate customer service levels and cost effectiveness with the completion of its new CDC. FORTE, a leading distribution operations improvement firm, was Delta’s strategic partner for concept and implementation of the commissioned project.

“Delta has made a significant investment in its distribution infrastructure and systems to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction,” said Delta director of logistics Rob Skavroneck. “We feel like working with FORTE was the most effective means of accomplishing our strategic objectives relative to the new CDC.”

The distribution center can accommodate five years of growth with future expandability. By mid-2004, Delta officials expect 80 percent of all products to be shipped out of the new Jackson facility. The distribution center’s strategic location will shorten the order delivery time, enabling Delta to ship products to its customers in 75 percent of all major markets within 24 hours.

FORTE supplied engineering, procurement and integration services for the required automation systems, including shelving, rack, pick modules, case conveyors, station equipment and an automated pallet wrapping system. Along with full case picking, the system also provides split case and repair parts picking for retail, wholesale and direct-to-consumer warranty orders. This automation alleviates excessive material handling steps typical of the distribution process.

FORTE’s CONTINUIMi™ DC Automation Director Module works in conjunction with the Warehouse Management System (WMS) software, which FORTE selected and implemented through its WMS Integration Services, to direct and control the distribution operation.
